Cheers Ray, that was good advice too.I'm certainly no expert on the subject, having an electronic engineering background does help though.

Think Darren has a good technical interest in answering questions about Freeview reception, but I think two things are worth a quick mention. 1. As I understand it a so called 'digital TV arial' is no more than a higher gain terestial arial with more elements, and as Darren says, in a strong reception area you might not need one. 2. A very old coax downlead can be replaced to advantage if you're looking to maximise signal strength coming of the arial. Indoor areals are always going to be hit and miss. Cheers, From Ray I can be contacted off-list at: mailto:ray-48@xxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- Darren Brewer Well I have a terrestrial aerial on my roof and it works fine with that. The question I think you need to answer is. How strong is the freeview signal in my area? I think I'm right in saying that even when the analogue signal is switched off, the majority of people will still be able to receive freeview with their current aerial. I think watchdog did a report about a new scam where you get sales people knocking on your door trying to flog a digital aerial that you may never actually need. But obviously many people are worrying about not being able to receive TV anymore and will fall for this sort of thhing. The remotecontrol isset | out in a very easy to use manner and the buttons are not clutteredinsilly | places unlike a lot of other remote controls. . There areseparatebuttons | to toggle audio description or subtitles which is a nice touch. | | When first connected all you need to press is the OK button on the remote | and it will auto tune. As I mentioned in my previous post I wantto usethe | receiver in a bedroom which doesn't have access to the roof topaerial.I | initially tried it downstairs and it found all the channels withinaminute | and the AD worked perfectly. | | Unfortunately upstairs I only have a loop antenna although I wasquite| surprised that by carefully adjusting the aerial I was able totune inquite | a lot of the channels. It seems that the BBC stations are theeasiest to| get. Again I was pleasantly surprised that even with the loopantenna Iwas | able to receive the audio description. Even watched Jonny Englishtheother | night on ITV2 and had the AD. It did take quite a bit of tweakingthe| aerial before I got the receiver to lock onto the signal, but Ifoundthat | to be the case with all the non BBC channels. | | . I bought a mains powered aerial from Argos the other day to seeifthe | reception could be improved a little, but unfortunately it didn'treallydo | much better than the loop antenna. I'll be taking it back to argosonMonday | for a refund. My only option now is to get someone to fit anaerial| extension in the bedroom so I can access the roof top antenna and finally | receive all the channels. | | For anyone thinking of purchasing a freeview box I would highly recommend | the Logik LDR V3 from Currys, but as I've just described for best results | you need to connect it to a roof top aerial. | | Darren. | | | ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Matthew Allbones" <mallbones@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> | To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> | Sent: Monday, November 19, 2007 3:24 PM | Subject: [access-uk] Re: advice on reasonably priced accessibleTVS with| freeview required please. | | | Hi Darren | | Having done a little research on the Nebula tv card, and hav ing previously | tried to use a set top box with an internal ariel I am not surethat any| digital TV reciever wil work with an internal ariel. | | Has anyone had any previous experience of this? | | Matt | | -----Original Message----- | From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] OnBehalfOf | Darren Brewer | Sent: 16 November 2007 13:23 | To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx | Subject: [access-uk] Re: advice on reasonably priced accessibleTVS with| freeview required please. | | Hi | | The freeview box you mentioned is the Logik, thats Logik with a K.LDRV3 | and is available from the Curry's website www.currys.co.uk andcost £66| including delivery. | | I ordered one earlier this week and am awaiting its arrival.
