Hi.Virgin, t-mobile, Three and I think Vodafone use Cable and Wireless directory enquiries, not BT. When you call, your operator will need to ring BT to validate the pin number, so perhaps that's why they ask additional questions because they don't have access to the BT pin number database.
All the best, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: "Ankers, Dave (UK)" <Dave.Ankers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Alexander, Sounds like a classic case of Vodaphone not knowing what they are doing. All they need is the id code off the card, and use your wife's maiden name. If they ask for anything else, tell them that is all they need. I had a similar case with Virgin, and when I told them they didn't need any phone number, they sorted it out and gave me the number I was after. Half the time, these companies don't know what they are doing. Same as most offices! Cheers Dave Hi Dave, Part of the reason for my asking this question is because Carol tried to call the Vodafone equivalent of 195 from her mobile and as well as being asked for her name and pin number, was also asked what telephone number she had registered with. when Carol asked what was meant by "number she had registered with" she was told by Vodafone that the number they were looking for was a landline number, and as I pointed out in an earlier message on this thread, the only Landline number connected with Carol's card was the original telephone number for the switchboard at Queen Alexandra College in Birmingham, therefore as Carol is no-longer studying at that College we need to find out who we should contact in order for Carol to either receive a new card or to have her details updated.
