You should never, never, never try to retrieve your cane if it falls on to the 
tracks, better to lose a cane than potentially your life whatever tracks we're 
talking about.

  Yes it's unfortunate that this has happened as Barry had only had training 
for a new guide dog. You may remember that another VI person was killed last 
year because he went to retrieve his cane and was electricuted in the process. 
Thankfully Barry is still with us.
