Peter,

When you are in the Save As dialogue, you can Tab around to the Save
in
combo box and then one more tab puts you on a horizontal list;
RightArrow to Tools and then DownArrow to get to open it. The
shortcuts
for this, once in the Save As dialogue, are Alt + L or Alt + 7. The
menu
item you want is General; that opens a further dialogue where you can
Tab to a password to open edit. If you put something in here and then
OK
the dialogue you will need to confirm the password before returning to
the Save As dialogue.

George and Ray

I have the protect dialogue box under tools within Word 2000 but the
only options I can see are to add a password and to track changes.
Adding a password and activating the option simply write-protects the
document. What I need to do is to prevent access to it completely.

Peter, I have Word 2k, but haven't used the protect document
feature.

I just opened a document and protect document is in the tools
menu. There's a fairly simple dialogue which offers levels of
prtection
plus a password field. I'd imagine one uses this in an open document,
then save or save as.

Sounds very much as if the help file's got things the wrong way
around there.

        HTH.

                Hello

Could somebody help me with Word 2000 please. I am
trying to protect a document and have looked at the help menu files
which say (not quoted exactly):

                1. Open the document.

                2. Open the save as dialogue box

                3. Open the tools menu.

I can't find a menu in that dialogue box and alt+t does
not bring up a tools menu. Can anybody help please.

                Peter Bentley
