[access-uk] Windows Defender

Hi
Can anyone throw any light on this? on starting up my computer the following 
message appears.
Windows Defender
Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused Windows Defender 
Service to stop. To start the graphic 355  service, restart your computer
or search Help and Support on how to start a service manually.  
When I try to start Windows defender manually, the same message appears. I am 
running Windows XP SP2. I haven't made any changes to my system between 
yesterday and today when the message started to appear for no apparent reason.
