[access-uk] WHY WON'T SOME DVD'S PLAY?

I use Power DVD, and have XP Home SP2. When I put a DVD into the drive it
seems to be hit and miss whether it will play or not. What happens is that
the disk is not recognised. When I press enter to play I get a prompt that
there is no disk in the drive, and when I go into Windows Explorer and look
at the E drive no files on the disk are shown. This does not happen with
every DVD, and sometimes the same DVD will play and sometimes not.

I have opened the computer and assured myself that the drive is connected
ok, so it isn't that. I have also explored the drive properties and assured
myself that the drive is working.

Music CD's and MP3 disks always work fine. Could there be a setting in
Power DVD or anywhere else which I need to change? Any ideas would be most
welcome.

Wendy
