[access-uk] Volume Control

James,

I've heard of a program called Windows SteadyState which may do what you
want. It allows you to return a PC to a known configuration every time it
is re-booted. There is a review of it on www.blindcooltech.com from 7
December last year. I haven't tried the program but from the description in
the podcast, it certainly sounds as if it might be worth investigating.

Caroline.

Subject: [access-uk] Volume Control

Hi,

I have been asked by a network administrator if there is a way to disable
mute in the Windows volume control. He works at a school, and sited pupils
keep muting the volume control so that when a blind user logs on, they have
no sound, and therefore no speech. Obveously he can't just disable the
volume control as people need to be able to adjust the volume levels, but if
there was a way to disable the mute boxes that would be fine.
