thanks chris for that. When my contract ends with Vodafone I am thinking
of moving to 02. Are you on contract or pay as you go?

Actually, this could be your current location, what speeds your phone
supports in terms of connection, etc. It could even be that Vodafone has
improved their networks a bit. I'm noticing that with O2, or so it would
seem.

can we have 3-G provided then by our service provider, e.g. vodafone and
if so how? I have GPRS at present but it certainly does not feel like
dial-up. It feels like Broadband.

No it doesn't mean that; GPRS (general packet radio service) is
considered slightly faster than dial-up, but for most people it will
still feel like dial-up. 3G, on the other hand, is supposed to feel
like broadband, or at least 128KBPS broadband anyway. Not tried it
though.

Hi. When I use my phone as a modem I get poor speeds and download
times. This happens even when there are 7 bars showing on the phone.
I'm on Three so does this mean that the signal quality is not the main
factor in getting a decent internet coverage? I Does this happen with
T-Mobile or any other network? I assumed that a good signal quality
meant that I could get good internet coverage.
