Gordon - Was that upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard a full upgrade, equivalent to upgrading from Windows XP to Vista say? -

Hi

When I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard it cost me thirty quid but that included the upgrade to voice over so it cost me just the same as a sighted person to upgrade - I couldn't argue with that!

When switching to apple you really need to get your head around the fact that accessibility is a given and this is at the heart of the apple philosophy - they are not paying lip service and they are not trying to make a fast profit out of you because you are blind.

Scary isn't it?

Hi Andy

I have never upgraded a Mac, and neither has Martin. We have both only done software updates to the existing operating system as you do on Windows. But we have never paid for any upgrades. I understand there is a major upgrade coming out later this year, but don't know how much it will cost. Gordon,
being much more experienced than either of us, could enlighten?

But when you think of the money we have paid over the years to constantly
update JAWS, it runs into thousands if you count the SMAs, and I don't think anyone using a Mac would claim to have forked out a quarter of that sum. I
guess Apple recoups its money by charging more for its products at the
outset. Let's face it, there isn't such a thing as a free lunch with these companies. I commend Apple's accessibility approach, but you do pay for it
when buying their products because they cost more.
