Oh, that's what Hannah has done and it's now all working! so thanks for the lecture <smiles>. Never heard of a hardware freeze so this is news to me.

Hi Chris.

This has happened to me on a couple of occasions although I'm using XP. This is what's known as a hardware freeze and the only way of resolving this is to pull all power sources from the battery. Unplug the mains, ensuring that there is no hard drive activity, then pull out the battery. Leave for around 30 seconds, reinstall the battery and then the mains. You should find that everything works properly from now on.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hello all,
Has anyone heard of the below.
Hannah put her Vista laptop to sleep. When she woke it up the entire machine froze and she can't even power it off, despite holding it for more than five seconds. Never heard this before and it's quite worrying. I've just told her to let it completely discharge.
Thanks in advance for any help regarding this.
