[access-uk] Re: USB2

Hi,

On my system I have several "Via USB host controler" options, the
motherboard is less than three months old and I have full USB2
functionality on it. I also have a "Via enhanced USB controler" -
however, it doesn't say anything about USB2. This is an AMD64 Abit
motherboard which sports full USB2 functionality in the spec sheet.
This is why I say it's a bit hit and miss, it depends on how the drivers
are identified in device manager.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Have you come across "Enhanced USB 2", which is actually not full USB 2
spec?

Hi,

This is slightly hit and miss due to the device manager not always
getting it right, due to the drivers installed not displaying the spec.
The best thing to look at is how old the system is, and whether the
device you have supports also USB 1 as well as USB2, chances are if the
device is 2 years old or less it will have USB 2 support (I have a
system here which was purchased in Nov 2002 with USB support), any older
may not be as clear.

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know if there is a way to confirm whether or not I have any
USB2 ports on my computer? I think I have but want to be certain and
can't find the handbook.

Best.

Robert.
