Many thanks Andrew, I have now managed to find the correct port to use and
all is running fine now.

Thanks again.

Hi,

The trick here is to find out which COM port the USB to serial lead has
assigned itself to. It probably won’t be COM1.

Go into device manager, and go into the ports section, and in there you will
see the USB adapter listed as a specific COM port. You then need to
instruct JFW to use this port rather than COM1 (default).

Thanks.

Andrew.

Subject: [access-uk] USB to Serial Cable

Hi,

I have just purchased a new PC which does not have any serial ports on it.
I am running a powerbraille and have just purchased a USB to serial lead,
which I was advised to do from the company I bought the braille display
from. However, I cannot get it to work.

I have installed the software as directed, e.g. plugging in the USB and
letting the PC find the drivers, which it did. I was informed installation
was complete and pressed finish.

I am still unable to get any Braille on the display. I have restarted the
PC, plus Jaws several times, but still no Braille.

Do I need some drivers for Jaws or something like that.

Any help much appreciated, as I am now stuck!
