Andy, If all that George has suggested doesn't work he can look under System/Hardware tab, Device Manager/Universal Seriel Bus Controllers for Unknown Device listed. Delete this and plug the drive back in, plug n play should kick in and install the drivers. Even with XP SP3 some USB drivers ae garbo and don't always go in first time. I had a NAS that when connected via USB the driver would only stay active until I powered the drive off. Once I booted the drive again XP would complain the device malfunctioned. I moved it around the USB ports until it refused to connect at all.
