Total Recall? It is made by Killer Mobile, not sure of the exact address but killermobile.com is worth a shot. It might also be on blind sea

You might be thinking of Total Recall, that works on a mobile and records calls without the beep.

Is this Total Recorder the same one as works on a mobile phone? How much is it to buy and where do I buy from?

I am little late on this thread but as pointed out already Total
Recorder has stream loopback capabilities. It will as of version 7.x
work on VISTA PCs where some time ago a number of people found their
sound device did not support a "what you hear" or similar feature on
their soundcard, Total Recorder in these situations will let them record
the streams or their soundcard output. Upgrades are free as well.

What do you mean by both apps? What you did there was background
recording, which is a brilliant feature in Total Recorder, in which what
you describe happens. GoldWave doesn't have any capturing capabilities,
hence it recording everything! This is why I don't use it now and use
Total Recorder instead.

I only tried both apps very briefly., But I noticed one thing, Chris.
When I
recorded a BBC radio stream using Total Recorder, only the stream was
captured. My screen reader's speech and the Skype call conversation I
was
having at the time wasn't. That's good! Perhaps both apps can be
configured
to do that? Goldwave recorded everything...

Cheers,
Amro

Well I use Total Recorder version 7.1, and I was able to snip bits of
audio
fully using the keyboard! Yes, the virtual device driver crashed my PC
sometimes, but you can now install Total Recorder with either driver,
both
drivers, or no drivers at all. Hope this helps.

Chris,

I have an old version of Total Recorder and stopped using it, mainly,
because its sound drivers so often conflicted with things. In
addition, I
found its basic editing functions clunky, even to snip off ends of
recordings. Maybe these are now improved greatly and I wonder if you
could
tell me just how versatile it is in terms of editing and how accurate
it
is
supposed to be.

Hello, Total Recorder is indeed very accessible, and is probably more
so
than GoldWave. Total Recorder, the professional edition at least,
allows
you
to record, edit, process, and convert sound. Recording sources
include
your
sound card's line in/microphone/"what you hear" input, as well as its
own
virtual device driver which captures exactly what's being sent to
your
sound
card. Total Recorder supports many file formats, including PCM WAV,
MP3,
WMA, and, with plug-ins, OGG and WMV, for example. The Audio
Restoration
plug-in is similar to GoldWave's noise reduction feature, however I
never
really needed to use it so can't exactly say. You can download a
fully
functional evaluation copy, with the exception that a short portion
of
audible noise will be inserted into each new recording about every 1
minute,
from www.totalrecorder.com. Hope this helps.

Subject: [access-uk] Total recorder versus goldwave?

Hi Everyone.

I'm currently using goldwave for my audio editing and conversion
needs,
however Total Recorder has been recommended as an accessible
alternative.
If someone has used or uses both applications, could they please give
me
a
rundown of the features of TR and if possible a comparison? Looking
on
the
total recorder site, I also see a number of plug-in. One that caught
my
eye
was the audio restoration function, however has anyone used this and
if
they
have, what do you think of it?

All the best, Ibrahim.
