Hi Andy. First of all, many congratulations on your new guide dog! I haven't been to the particular Hilton you are training from, but I did train at the Leicester Hilton in June 2003. All the Hilton's are pretty much the same really. There is a bar, but it's very very expensive to buy drinks in there! There is also a restaurant obviously, which does pretty good food. At the Hilton Leicester there was a carvory every night, plus you could choose from the other menu too which had fancier meals on it. You'll probably be told that Guide Dogs will pay for two courses, and if you have a third you'll have to pay for it yourself. Go for the main and the dessert, that's what I did! In your room you'll find tea/coffee making facilities, a TV, which has a few satellite channels but not many, and a few radio stations. the rooms are a good size, and there is plenty of room to store clothes etc for a week or so. Make sure you take enough clothes to last you plus some extra. You don't want to use the laundry service at the hotel as it's very expensive! The Hiltons are primarily set up for business travellers, and thus the laundry service is taylored to their needs too... In the bathroom you'll find a shower and bath, plus nice big fluffy bath towels! there are some complementary shampoos etc, but take your own as well... Be sure to take something to do in the evenings, like an MP3 player or something. Your training will finish at five and you'll need something to do in the couple of hours after your evening meal and after feeding and grooming your dog... Obviously I don't know how many people are set to do class with you, but on mine there were three. I can't believe your district team haven't furnished you with all this info, it's very bad to expect you to find all this out for yourself! They should have sent you some info about the hotel and it's facilities, told you how many are on class etc... Now if there's anything else I can help with feel free to ask away and I'll do my best! What is your dog's name and breed out of interest... All the best now, Tracy. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andy" <andy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, November 19, 2005 4:56 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: The Hilton Cumbernauld > Hi Kevin. > > Thanks for having a look for me mate.
