Hi,
I've not come come across the poor contact problem; I don't use the phone to
excess, so I guess I'm just fortunate. It stays in a clean pocket or on a
relatively clean shelf.
Cheers,
Mike

Well Sunil, I don't upgrade my phone yearly, but I've already explained my
impoverished position.
Just wonder though if what you are reporting is one of the possible
problems for blind people over other users. Its probable some dirt has
got to the contacts of your phone. That might not happen so readily if
you could use a protective case. Then, however, feeling the buttons for
dialling and operating the phone, and even more for texting, would
probably be near impossible.
Wonder if anyone has come across a Clingfilm thin covering to help
alleviate this problem?

I change my phone once a year when I'm offered a free upgrade from
Orange. Most people do don't they? I normally have to upgrade because
the buttons on the number pad stop working properly and on the 6600
which I just upgraded from, the call button only functioned when I
pressed it really really hard - to the extent that it hurt my finger too
much.

Hi Kevin,
But what you don't realise is that Freedom do do that anyway. They
get their money back by software maintenance agreement costs, and
charging the earth for JFW upgrades, rather than charging you for
transfers. And what about charging you just for remote access to
another PC? And what about charging you just because you are on XP
Pro, rather than Home? Oh yes, they do it, but in much more devious
ways <Smile>.

the
same with talks. for all intense and purposes, talks is a cut down
screenreader aimed at mobile phones. look at it this way, JFW costs,
what,
£650 or so? so using the talks example, if you boght an ew pc, you
wouldn't
be very happy if freedom scientific charged you another £220 despite
already
having paid the £650 for jfw!!

peter,
This subject has gone round the houses time and time again in the
three years i have had talks on my 9210i.
The developers have to recoup their costs and perhaps even turn a
profit
to
enable continued development of the product. If the licencing of the
software wasn't controlled it would be made freely available by
someone
and
they would never sell any ligitimate versions once a pirate version
was
on
the web somewhere.
There have been suggestions to tie the software licence to the sim
card rather than the phone which is just as bad imho.
moaning about it is not going to change any of this. If I chose to
upgrade
my 9210i I would expect to have to pay for the software again and
they
are
doing you a favor by not making you pay the whole price for each
change
of
phone you choose to have. You can also sell on the phone with the
licenced
copy or you would then own two copies of talks.
