Hi,

I might be missing something here as have not followed all of this thread. But if I understand it correctly we're talking about RNIB Talking Books streaming books which are at the same time available through their standard service.

If so, then 1) I think it's fruitless to expect RNIB to campaign against the charge since it's an RNIB service making the charge so they're of course not going to campaign against it; and 2) I don't see a huge need to campaign against the charge since it's, as you say, not allowing access to new material. Conversely to you, I think if it was allowing access to new material there should be a huge campaign against charging for it. As it is, I can't see any advantages in terms of people's access needs to streaming as opposed to receiving material in the post, and so what's the need to complain about it? Sure, it'd be nicer for everyone if the streaming was free, but personally I don't see it as a huge issue...

The bad news is that if you want to stream books you have to pay. I think
this is something RNIB and Talking Book members should be campaigning
against. After all, there is no access to new material here.

Humm, is this a "Paying Service" in addition to talking books library? Or
may I stream books freely as part of my TB subscription? I expected it was,
unless I wanted to "buy" something to keep hold of? Christine W.
