Just noticed that the model numbers are slightly different, TVonics
DTR-ZE500 as opposed to the RNIB's DTR-HD500 don't know whether this would
make a difference?

To my knowledge, the software is free, so as long as you have the models
identified as compatible, you can install this as a firmware upgrade.

the software and does it cost? If it does it's probably better to go with
the RNIB unless the price difference is large.

it is the same as the RNIB one I think, just that the RNIB version has it
all pre-installed, obviously you'd need sighted help to add the software on
to it.
From what I have read you install the software from the USB drive, then the
voice file
