Hi everybody, my curiousity got the better of me yesterday and I popped over to Judd Street and got a TVonics talking freeview recorder. I'm glad I did. Other than for a bit of a song and dance getting the talking features turned on, as pressing the blue button didn't work for me, possibly due to pressing it too late or at the wrong time the button press sequence was in the instructions, so I was able to turn talking features on. In answer to Tristram's question regarding the quality and stability of the speech it leaves the Goodmans standing. The speech is clear, without any dropout or stuttering. I think they've used the Emma voice. In answer to Will's question regarding whether or not it was possible to listen to a third channel while recording on two others no, you can't. One touch record is very handy. Hopefully one day they'll enable it to dub recorded programmes onto DVD, but that aside I couldn't fault it. The remote's well laid out. I think the learning curve would be where a proceedure requires the pressing of one of the four coloured buttons, as which one to press doesn't seem to be spoken. As they do different things in different parts of the menus I can't see a way of marking them. Still, so far so good. As people have said on here previously it's wonderful that manufacturers are beginning to make mainstream equipment accessible.

                   John.
