Hi Jackie When you first connect the box I'd say you'd have to wait around 3 to 5 minutes before pressing the blue button and the blue button is the bottum right on the remote controll. That is a guess for if you can't see or don't have anyone to tell you what is going on on the screen. After pressing the blue button all should work normally. So could you power the box off please and then switch all on again and try to follow these instructions? # Please give me a call if you keep on struggling. Our box arrived yesterday. We plugged the HDMI cable into the TV and TVonics, and of course the roof aerial. The problem is that Martin no longer has enough sight to read anything, but could just about detect there was some writing on the screen. I pressed the blue button on the remote, but nothing happened. There was no speech, and I can't skip through the AV settings on our TV as I don't know where the AV button is on the telly's remote control. I was under the impression, obviously the wrong one, that this product spoke out of the box once it was plugged in. According to the instructions - and therein lies a real gripe with me - you plug in the leads, press the blue button and away you go. As for the instructions, I was told a Braille copy of these would be sent with my box. When it arrived, there were no instructions, except the standard print variety which, of course, were of no consequence to ourselves. We downloaded a Word copy from the RNIB online shop and have put them onto my BrailleSense until the hard copy Braille instructions arrive. Until we get sighted assistance, I think we are stuck to be honest. We hear the box whirring, but can't go any further. I have a feeling that, when we turn on the TV, it jumps automatically to the new box, but it just doesn't speak, and I don't want to go pressing buttons here and there in case we make the situation worse. The HDMI cable between TV and box as stated in instructions. It does not state in the instructions whether you need to tune the box independently first, before putting on the TV, so we've tried tuning both ways. On each occasion, we've said OK to tune, since there doesn't seem to be any other option my friend can see, and the tuning has just gone on and on ... so we've turned off the power to the box, given it a good 20 seconds and tried again with TV on, but still no go! In addition, when we first switched on, we pressed the blue button, as speech didn't automatically come on. We still haven't managed to get speech on as there seems to be no bypassing the channel search. Hopefully someone somewhere can pinpoint where we've gone wrong, advise of anything else I can do, and we can get up and running very soon. Thanks for any advice for this poor novice who's never set up a TV and box before! <Smiles> -- Carol P ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq To report this e-mail as Spam, please forward it to: spam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -- DISCLAIMER: NOTICE: The information contained in this email and any attachments is confidential and may be privileged.
