Hi Carol, for me knowing what direction I'm heading in and what road I'm facing in the park increased my confidence so much and made me a lot more relaxed. Mind you that confidence led me to cross the grass and bump into a tree which I wouldn't have done had I stayed on the path. LOL.

Usuf,

So, can you relocate the gate when you want to exit the park? If so, how much can you depend on Trekker and how much can you find for yourself? (Perhaps dog does most of the work <Smiles>)

I'm slightly behind on this one. I can't comment on any of the other
GPS offerings because I haven't actually used them. I've used Trekker
for 5 years pretty much from the time it came out. for me its eas of
use when going out, I can use 1 hand to do all the things I need to,
its free mode, very useful when taking the dog for a free run in the
park are just 2 of its advantahges.

The maps come from Navtech and in my area Croydon I haven't noticed
too many street with no names. But this seems to vary from area to
area.
The other big advantage to Trekker was and is the developers in
Canada. I'm a beta tester for them and they have always taken on
board what I have said both critical and positive. Many of the things
I asked for in the original Trekker have been implemented over the
years. More than this they listen to the customers. I've only had to
pay for 1 upgrade in the time I've had Trekker, some 5 years and its
gone from version 1 up to version 3.
If I were ever to switch there would have to be a lot of very good
reasons. Yusuf

if wayfinder had more POI and free mode, plus the ability to mar
where you are as POI this woud be a total winner
will

Ah now the poste code support in Access in fantastic and is a big plus over Trekker, together with its versatility of being turned into a GPS for the sighted in an instant. I can be some use as a passenger now! As for improvements, I like how Trekker says the intersection with rode a on your left, road b infront etc as your just walking along.
I also love how Trekker lets you put a POI in where you are stood,
I don't think Access lets you do this? There is also the Trekker
free mode which can be handy but if your a good Access user you'll
probably get used to checking where your nearest crossing or favourite is using one of the tabs. Trekker, in my view, is a slightly better system because it announces things automatically when your not in route mode and there are more one touch buttons. Wayfinder then beats it for me with its size, versatility and postcode search facility. Oh and I carry my phone everywhere and Trekker, particularly in summer, can be awquard with a T-shirt, geans and no bag. I can't totally make my mind up between the two but I must say that the Wayfinder maps are comprehensive with less
no named streets, something I hear Humanware haven't improved on in
certain parts of the country. Oh well sorry that turned into a bit of a bitty post but I hope you
can make sense of it.

Hi Dean, and anyone else,

What does Trekker have that Wayfinder Access doesn't? I would be vfery interested to know, first as a reseller of Wayfinder, so we
can improve it,
but secondly having tried them both, I can't see much missing in WF. In
fact all the blindness solutions except Wayfinder Access annoy me
intensely
with their lack of postal code support.

All the best

Steve

I couldn't have written that better about Trekker pro and Access
myself! They both have their strengths and weaknesses but I've
love to mix their features and then I should have the perfect package!

Hi Carol

Ian uses the Trekker Pro, but he also has Wayfinder Access on his
phone. This is a general hobby for him, and he thinks the whole
thing would be better if he could pick things from Trekker and
Wayfinder Access, and have them rolled into one decent product. He says Trekker Pro has got some real bugs in it, but he uses both
quite a lot just to find out where he is and putting his own
landmarks in.

I'll be at Sight Village this year, so I'm hoping to perhaps have
a look at Trekker Breeze at some point, just to report back to
Ian as he is interested in it.

Incidentally, if any of you are going to Sight, please come and
say hello to me as it would be nice to put voices to the many of
you I have written to on and off list over the months.

Hi all,

My husband's thinking of getting the Trekker Breeze which I
understand is somewhat of a cut-down version of the GPS software
used with the BrailleNote family of products. If anyone uses
this, I'd be interested in your observations, likes and dislikes
and to know how you use it (I mean, for what purposes you find
it works
for you).
