Hello, on closer inspection there seems to be a battery compartment on the 
back.
Although the time speaks, the date does not,  but the actual calculator 
works a treat.

Could anyone recommend a basic talking calculator please?

No need for any fancy functions but needs to be small and battery operated
for portability.  Suppliers details appreciated.
