Hi folks, seems that I'm hearing a lot aboutthe the 6680, is that the
must-have latest with TALKS? Did I hear somewhere that Wayfinder doesn't
like 3G phones, is the 6680 3G.
Is anyone using the 6680 willing to comment on how the phone is and how
happy TALKS is on it?

Hi Mel, Steve & all,
Vodafone says it provides Talks free on any of the phones supplied which can
carry it under the terms of the various contracts. For example, someone I
know recently got a 6680 with a full copy of Talks plus call time and texts
for thirty quid a month. On the other hand, I also know of someone who
shopped around for a SIM free 6630 from the net, paid around £350 for it
plus £150 for the Talks and then got a Pay As You Talk contract from one of
the providers. Five hundred quid plus calls is more than twelve months
rental at £30 a month.
Cheers now.
Ian

Hi Steve,
I have a couple of friends who are getting Talks free on the 6680 but they
are limited to certain contracts. Not knowing much about Vodafone, I don't
know which these are.

Hi Neil,
As far as I know, Voda are only giving Talks free on the 6600, which is a
very old phone to say the least.
We don't give Talks free on any phone, however, when you buy from any
accessibility dealer, as opposed to a mobile phone company, you get Talks
Premium. Neither Voda, nor any other tel co are allowed to sell or give
away Talks Premium, so you are getting added value if those applications
sound good to you. If you don't need them however, Talks on a 6600 is OK,
if you also don't want 3G and all that good stuff.
All the best

Subject: [access-uk] TALKS in the UK
Hello folks,
I wonder if anyone can update me a little on the current situation re TALKS
and mobile phones in the UK. I've been away for a year now so I'm a little
out of touch. I take it that computer Room Services are still dealers for
TALKS: I certainly hope so.
I've also been hearing that Vodafone themselves are also supplying TALKS
with suitable handsets. I'm even hearing that if people sign up to a
contract with VF they will get TALKS for nothing.
Firstly, is this actually the case and if it is, what is people's experience
of the this in practice: does it actualy happen; do VF staff know about the
offer and indeed about TALKS. And if so, what sort of prices have people
paid for a new phone loaded with TALKS. Is the Customer Services up to much
from VF - its always been first-rate for instance from CRS, so how does
Vodafone compare?
Lastly, is there a UK dealer for the Mobile Speak software and does anyone
have any experience with them?
I'm asking this because we're looking at our options for how best to meet
the talking mobile needs of our members here in New Zealand, and I just want
to be clear what the current state of affairs is in Britain so I can do a
realistic comparison when negotiating.
With many thanks for any info people can give me,
Neil Jarvis
