Adrian, I think it also allows you to find out how much space is left.  But I 
agree with you, and since I fill mine till it's full anyway, that's hardly an 
issue.  Incidentally, I'd be interested to know whether anyone actually does 
get five hundred tracks on there.

  Carol - as a matter of interest what have you needed to use the creative
  software for? So far I haven't bothered to install it as get along just
  fine with windows explorer and audible manager to load the stone.
   
  Battery meter?
  Any other advantages?

  I have found this isn't an issue if you're using Windows Explorer but,
  when using the Creative software, it's been a bit picky.  I've found I
  need to open Creative, then plug in the Zen Stone.

  If you're just using Windows Explorer, you should probably get a
  dialogue up, after plugging in the Zen Stone, to indicate a drive and
  ask whether you want to play files etc.  . . ..
