Thanks, Steve. Maybe Mike will decide to have one. He certainly can't have mine, for sure!

HI.
you can get an n86 from nokia, price £299 and I would
recommend this phone if you like big phones. got a swish
camera too, eight megapixel, and the build is good.
great for one handed operation, if a bit large.

Eleanor,
Sorry, I have used a N70, E 65 and currently a 6210
Navigator; all Nokias. I like the music player, and
ability to video and take a picture, as I can do this if
I need to send a picture to my wife, or someone else,
say regarding a piece of funiture, whether it is
suitable etc.
Calculator and converter functions are useful and
calendar and notes.
I would of have liked Sat nav, but not sure how
accessible it is, I
don't find mine on the 6210 very accessible.
Not sure about the touch screen phones, as I usually
have the phone in
my pocket; perfect combination for a burst screen!
Thanks,
Mike

Mike I disagree with you about the qwerty which is
excellent once you know the keyboard. I found it
strange at first but persevered and love it now and
am as quick on it as I was on the numeric one.
Indeed I was painfully slow in the beginning. It
depends on whether you are going to have Talks put
on by Vodafone or get an unbranded phone. Getting
the unbranded gives you more choice as these service
providers have very rapid turnover. On the other
hand there are people with no vision using touch
screens, personally I would not recommend it though
I have one but use my residual vision with it. maybe
one day I will be good at it without looking but I
doubt it. I think you want to get a list of
compatable phones either on the RNIB website, Sight
and Sound website or Blindsea website then armed
with that go around the shops and try and get your
hands on one so that you can feel for yourself what it
is like. You do not tell us ifyou have been using a
mobile phone and Talks up to this and if so what model?
Eleanor

new mobile

        Hi all,
I am looking for a new mobile. I am a totally
blind person, so talks etc will be necessary.
Technology does not bother me, I can adapt quite
quickly. I am not sure about the Qwerty layout,
I think it would be hard to use with one hand,
if on the move etc; as Damon mentioned about the
        iPhone. Suggestions would be appreciated,
        Kind regards,
        Mike
