Thanks George - I understand now how this might have happened; when I get
the message telling me about it, there is a button[invisible to JFW] that
it says to click for a list of faster USB connection, suggesting there is a
3-way hub, and as my laptop has 3 USB ports, then I'm assuming it is
referring to them, and offering a way to reconfigure. When I get this
message to "click here" I try quickly to do a left mouse click, but I don't
seem to do this fast enough, and the focus changes, and the button doesn't
get clicked! -
Andy

| Hi Andy,
|
| It may indeed be that by connecting the printer before
| installing the software and drivers, that your system has
| seen an unknown USB device, and automatically configured the
| USB port to the slower speed. Just how you get round that
| one, short of removing and re-installing, I don't know.
|
| I'm inclined to suggest a call to HP's technical support
| might be well worth it.
|
| George.

| Hi George - you could be right, I can't remember now what I
| did; if you are
| correct, and that's why I'm getting this message, will the
| printer be
| functioning more slowly than otherwise? I don't want to have
| to uninstall
| and reinstall, as with this particular set up for my AIO,
| sighted help is
| required for the first couple of screens! -

|| Hi Andy,
||
|| It sounds like you may have connected the device BEFORE
|| installing the drivers. Can I suggest you check the
|| installation instructions as it is now more common to
|| install the software and drivers, and connect the device
|| when the process tells you to.
||
|| George.

||
|| Hi all -
||
|| When I connect my new all in one printer scanner to my lap
|| top via USB, I
|| get the following message:
|| "this device can perform faster if you connect it to a 2.0
|| USB port. For a
|| list of available pports, click here"
||
|| This is a new lap top, and I would assume it's USB ports
| are
|| 2.0, so why
|| this message I wonder? -
