Hi Mandy.

Don't know what version of JAWS you're using but right up to versions 5 & 6 and 
maybe beyond, there has always been a bug where if you press delete while in an 
e-mail, the next e-mail will not form with links that you're able to press 
enter on to activate.  If you press escape and delete the e-mail from the inbox 
rather than with the message open, and then press enter to open the next 
e-mail, all links work.

Don't know if this is symptomatic of what you're experiencing and maybe this 
isn't an issue with later versions of JAWS but just my experience.  I have 
found that sometimes pressing enter on a link while not taking you to the web 
page will actually make the link work properly if you press enter on it a 
second time.  Again, sounds very quirky but this is what I've found with 
versions of JAWS below 6.

the other layout as you use fewer keystrokes, for example windows key c for 
control panel - but Brian's computer is set up exactly the same and yet his

using?  I usually set it to laptop layout which seems logical - I believe if I 
use classic then favourites in internet explorer doesn't show up.

link onto something in an email.
  I can link onto addresses it's links in websites that are included in emails 
that won't work.

    Mandy, let's sort your internet connection out before we can help you with 
your strange control panel thing. Personally I know what it is, but as you're a 
beginner I don't want to give you too much, if you see what I mean. I could, if 
you want though, e-mail you privately with instructions on how to change the 
appearance, so that Control Panel, as well as My Computer/Windows Explorer, 
appears and functions like that of Windows 95/98? Just trying to help.

      Yes this also comes under the heading of strange because I never used to 
have a problem with Outlook Express - it is really bugging me why does there 
always have to be a problem?

      Not only that:  if I go to control panel and want, say, add/remove, the 
letter a doesn't do it which is also annoying I just wish everything would work 
properly for just even a short while.

      At least internet connection doesn't appear to be a problem now perhaps I 
should just be thankful for small mercies?

        Mandy, you're saying that you've set your e-mails to HTML, yet you 
can't click on links? It's just I don't have any problems doing this using 
Outlook Express 6 and JAWS 8.0.423 demo.

          Hi All.

          Having spent the weekend emailing this list and boring everybody 
rigid about my router problems everything now seems to be working fine for no 
apparent reason so thanks for help and I've saved relevant advice and will take 
appropriate action if it happens again.

          Apparently Virgin Media do provide a router but don't know what kind 
of quality it is or whether they would set it up for us.

          Now I am still plagued by this problem of not being able to link onto 
things in emails - I removed and reinstalled Jaws but no good and I don't think 
there are viruses on here - is it worth using one of the repair Outlook Express 
options you find if you search Google or is that risky?  I saw a link about 
|Outlook Express 7 but then could only find 6 which I already have.
          Or is it worth uninstalling Outlook Express from the Windows XP disk 
and seeing if that makes a difference?
