Iain From: Eleanor Burke Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2012 3:14 PM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Stopping webpages from Automaticly Launching Videos Etc I have had a strange thing Darren, when going to download from sendspace on one download, while the download was taking place and indeed from when I went on the site, there were these adverts playing. Did not work out what was going on there. After reading Ian's message about nothing happening when he went to the site, I went back again myself and yes, nothing played this time! So either BBC have changed something because its a new site in the early stages of release, or I just put it down to being one of those internet PC things that happen! Darran, none the wiser! ----- Original Message ----- From: Iain Lackie To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2012 1:49 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Stopping webpages from Automaticly Launching Videos Etc I didn’t disable anything. You may find that disabling Flash actually turns out to be a bad idea in the end. No need to get back to me on this one, I think I found the solution! I disabled the Shockwave Flash player from Adobe and that seems to have done the trick. Sorry for bringing this to the list before checking out this possibility. I've started to encounter more and more websites that will launch video content the minute they load, see http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/sportsday/live/ for an example of what I'm talking about. This obviously can make listening to JAWS a bit of a problem and I'm simply looking for a way to stop this from happening. Does anyone have a solution? I've checked in the Multi Media options in IE and there's nothing there about videos, sounds yes, videos no. Thanks. Darran
