I can ping the blind mice website and get a response immediately, but can't access it either via its URL or IP address.

If you want to see the website via a proxy, go to the Hide My Ass website and enter the blind mice URL into the search box.
You can browse the site but you can't download anything.

I am on virgin and can't even get a cashe for the site. My neighbour two doors away is also on virgin and can.

I've been doing a little digging. I've changed my DNS settings to use the google public dns and still got the same result, ie.

In IE v6 the response is

The page cannot be displayed

The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser

Using latest version of Firefox:
Blind Mice Mart Movies DVS

The connection has timed out

The server at www.blindmicemart.com is taking too long to respond.

Now this is nothing to do with Google DNS as I have checked that the resolver is working. I have checked that I can communicate with the google dns servers using tracert via the cmd box. Google dns can resolve the url www.blindmicemart.com and displays it's ip address. I then checked whether other dns resolvers can resolve the url by using nslookup via cmd. I tried two Level 3 dns servers and two Open DNS servers. The first level 3 failed the second gave a limited response and the two open servers resolved correctly. this means that there is most likely a problem with the blind mice server. but not being able to contact the owner/administrator of the server then I'm at a brick wall. I don't think it is anything to do with ISP's blocking the site.

Jonathan recently said:-

As far as I understand it, blind mice are breaking the law by hosting
illegal downloads, and downloaders are breaking the law by
downloading.

Now, it's not for me to judge people so I won't, but from a technical
perspective, given that it appears to be connected more to the ISP
being used, than the geographical location, I think the following
might be a possibility:

Movie studios might have put pressure on ISPs to block downloading
from blind mice. Some may have complied, some may have ignored the
request.
Given that blind mice is one static location, blocking it would be easy to do.
It's the only reason I can think for this to have happened.

Here's what I've collated from the list:

Colin is on BT, and CAN get to the site.
I am on Plusnet (a subsidiary of BT) and CANNOT get on the site.
Maureen is on Blueyonder, and CANNOT get to it.
Peter is on Sky, and cannot get to it.
Ari is in South Africa and cannot get to it.

In fact, looking back through the list, I think Colin is the only
person from anywhere to be able to get to it!

Any others for the list?
