I repeat my earlier post text.

The answer is very very very simple.

When threatened, press your recall button, usually this results in a broken
dial tone, the other person is left with the usual "please hold the line"
message, put your phone down, call is ended, no problems.

I can assure you with talkTalk and BT this works **every** time!!!
