Have you tried msconfig then start-up and disabling it from their?

  Subject says it really.  Have tried to go to taskbar and start menu in 
control panel to stop Office from starting automatically, but can't seem to 
find it there.  Anyone else having similar problem?  Pointers would be much 
appreciated.  Thanks.
