Hi Jeff

Our Sky+ box broke down, so we just found a local dealer who sold us what we
wanted, a straightforward Sky DigiBox with no frills in which to put our
FreeSat card. We aren't subscribed to Sky, so don't need to pay for HD or
stuff that is completely inaccessible. I am sure you could get hold of a
refurbished box from somewhere. It's a wonder Sky aren't flogging them off
themselves?

I have never seen the Sky Talker, and obviously wouldn't purchase one now we have the TVonics unit. Like you Damon, I've heard different rumours, but my
motto is that if Sky don't want to make their products accessible, why
should I subscribe to their services? Same goes with Virgin Media. It's a money-making racket. They tell you that you get "choice". What's choice if you have to take out a stupid package with channels that only broadcast for a few hours per day and have no relevance, just to get the sport or whatever
other premium service you are interested in? If it's sport you like, then
it's sport you should purchase. If movies are your thing, then you should
get films. Why do you have to pay extra money for a pile of junk?

Grrr!! (smiles).
Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Hi Jeff
Have you checked with local independent sat dealers in your area for a
Sky standard box?

it is a very basic box and a joke, really
hardly reads anything worth bothering with, save money, I would anyway

I have to change my Sky box and apparently only hd boxes are now

I was going to buy the SkyTalker at the same time but have heard it
doesn't work well with the up market boxes.
Any thoughts?
Jeff
