[access-uk] Re: SKY HD and recording

Hi again Darran.

What do you do with the Optical Out? And what is it plugged into? Is it for audio or both video and audio?

You suggested £400 for SKY HD. Is this the price of the new hd digibox? if so, it sounds a bit high, considering that there is also a hd subscription cost. I don't have much vision but I thought that the HD would be brighter and more colourful, but if it's as expensive as that then I'm not sure.

Best wishes.

Andy

I've only got the standard Sky Plus system, having no useful sight I haven't
made inquiries about pricing etc for the Hi-Def units. Although as far as
connectivity is concerned I'd expect it to have at least two skarts like the
existing Plus boxes.

There's also an optical out that I make use of, and I'd expect this to be
present on the new boxes.

If I had to guess, I'd imagine the Hi-Def system will come it at around
£400, but this is purely guesswork and not based on any factual information.

| Hi Darran.
|
| Funny enough, a month or so back, a list member advised that he had a
video
| attached to his sky plus box, but when I made further enquiries on the
list,
| I was told that the sky plus box had no scart sockets on it. So
obviously,
| I was wrong and that's fine because I really do wish to have both video
and
| DVD recording facilities. I saw an item on SKY about a Samsung Video/DVD
| player recorder for £198.00 and I really fancied getting this with my new
| TV. I was thinking of recording onto Video, programmes that I'd like to
| watch another day, and onto DVD the AD such as Steve McQueen's Bullet that
| was on 5 the other night. At present I have the standard digibox but was
| thinking of getting multiple room SKY, so my wife can watch in one room
| while I watch in another.
|
| Do you know anything about the new HD digibox concerning connectivity or
| costs Darran? There would be no point in making enquiries about SKY Plus
if
| I want to go onto HD later this year.
|
| Best wishes.
|
| Andy
