[access-uk] Re: Ray and Vince

Andrew, your wife might like to have a look at this:-

http://www.softwaretrainingtutorials.com/powerpoint-2003.php

Looks like a well-structured tutorial.

I had a look at PowerPoint earlier, and some things came back to me, which might be useful hints.

1. Draft out what you what to achieve in the presentation, and then stick to your plnano matter what. That way you won't get too dazzled by slides shooting in from God knows where, sound effects, etc.

2. Start from the Insert menu. Insert a text box for the title, another text box for the body text, and if you like then insert some backgrounds, pictures, movies or whatever. But don't make it look like a ransom note with 36 fonts on every page or make it look like a hot dog stand with 25 million colours. Make sure everything backs up your message.

3. If you haave trouble placing things, try the Draw menu. The Alignment option there lets you place things either relative to the whole slide, or relative to the particular object you're working on. So, if you want a text box in the middle introducing your presentation, select Draw/alignment/Relative to Slide, then Draw/Alignment/Center then Draw/Alignment/Middle (middle meaning the centre on the vertical or Y axis).

3. Insert pictures from dirverse sources and don't just reach for the Clipart. Everybody's already bored with the clipart (except, of course, us blindies). There are places such as images.google.com and flickr.com and webshots.com where you can find exactly what you want.

Just some random thoughts - hope they're some help.

Good luck!
Vince.

Hi Ray and Vince.

Sorry about the black on black. I've been having lots of problems with this computer all year. Thank goodness Christmas is almost upon us. I get a new computer every 2 years and I cannot wait to get rid of this pile of ****! I have made adjustments to my settings and this message should be okay.

Regarding the Power Point for my wife. Do you not know of any free materials out there. I don't think my wife has enough time to go purchase a book in Glasgow. I think her interview is next week. I don't think she needs to learn much, just a couple of over-heads and some text I'm thinking.

Please let me know if I'm still black on black guys. Best wishes. Andy
