Hi Andrew and all.

Did not know you excluded yourself automatically from analogue service by
going digital, but I reluctantly agree that it would be an admin mess to do
otherwise.

I only hope that with all the public closures RNIB have implemented recently
that the cash will be freed up to spend more money where it can count.
Talking books would, to me , be an obvious candidate. Increasing what's
available, allowing people to compile a proper reading list, would be the
improvements I'd like to see.

I'd add that the reason I took up the service on the intro of DAISY was that
I could not abide the old system with its inflexibility. I am though in the
fortunate position of being able, to a limited degree, use print; I also
have a more than tolerable cassette tape service via the Central public
library here.

I'll end by repeating that I believe RNIB should prioritize and focus on a
narrower range of services and not try to be all things to all blind people,
including running hotels.

Cheers for now.

Ray.

Hi,

Purely on an administrative point this is a nightmare. You have to send
out two players and support these, there are differing charges for both
playersservices, then how many books should you receive for each format?
If you changed to the digital format one of the clauses was that you
could not order books from the analog format, originally a lot of people
stayed with the old format due to the fact that there were very limited
books available in April 2002.
