Does it HAVE to be a tower? There's some amazing laptop deals around; I'm typing this on an Asus aluminium shelled laptop with 6GB RAM, 750GB hard disk, USB3, HDMI, Win 7 home premium blah blah blah for under £399 inc vat and del from (I hate to say this) Currys. Just hang around HotUKDeals for a few days and the bargain-hunting geeks will have found something :) And yes, while MS has extended XP support to April 2014, 13 years after XP was first launched, there's a fair bit to be said in favour of switching to Win 7.
