Hi Adrien and David, this may have nothing to do with your Victor's problem,
but, I noticed that if the Victor reader is near enough to a mobile phone and
that phone receives a call or a text message while the Victor is playing the
Victor then locks up and it has to be restarted to work again. Just like what
you described, David.

This happens on both Victor readers we have and it can be tested. So, could
that be the real issue and plugging a headphones is just a coincidence?

Just a thought.

  Hi Adrien

I have had the same problem on my Stream for a while, but it does not happen
usually until it has been playing for about an hour.

One thing I have noticed, and this may or may not be significant, is that
when the machine beeps on being turned on, if it beeps normally, i.e. quite
a long beep, then all is usually well, but if I only hear a short beep, then
I know it is likely to lock up after an hour. When it does this, i.e. locks
up, if I turn on and hold the on/off button it restarts, but it goes back to
where I was at the start of my reading session. It is not too serious a
problem, and I rarely listen using speakers, so I cannot comment on that
  aspect.

It certainly started before the latest upgrade.

What puzzles me here is that if you can replicate the problem on two
  machines, why can't Humanware?

  Hi

I know this is a message best sent to the vr stream lists
but I thought some one on here may have some ideas.

For about the last six months, my victor stream has been
locking up when I use earphones. I can tern it on without
earphones and when I plug them in it locks up after about
twenty minutes or so. When I use ordinary speakers such as
those for my pc, this doesn't happen. I sent my stream back
to humanware to be repaired and serviced in September and
they couldn't find anything physically wrong with it. They
replaced the earphone jack and other warn parts. I up-graded
the software on both my victor streams just recently and I
notice that both my streams have the same problem now.
Humanware first thought it was a hardware issue but if that
was the case it would only happen on one stream, not two,
has anyone any ideas what this may be? I suspect it is
something in the software but I'm not an expert. I'm
experimenting and have just downloaded a different version
of the same software, see what happens and I have swapped
earphones on the two streams. I am really puzzled.

  Regards

  Adrien
