I have also found that jewellers are unwilling to change batteries in tactile non-talking watches. It would be perfect but for the fact that it keeps freezing on me. By that I mean it will work fine for a few months and then it will stop talking and the time will stop. On the face of it, it seems as if the batterie has gone, but when I put my ear to the face and listen carefully I can still hear it ticking as if it is telling the time like a normal watch would do. I have spoken to the rnib and they tell me to get another batterie put in to see if that solves the problem as the problem only started a few months ago so there is a strong possibility that the batterie has indeed gone and the watch is probably having a reaction to that. The problem was solved when a jeweler took out the battery tested it, and put it back in when he could find nothing wrong with it. I then left it near the window sill over night and it righted itself and was fine up until the other week when it froze again. I will try to get it sorted out again next week as no jewelers near me will fit batteries into talking watches.
