No. I got one with the printer/scanner though and that wouldn't do the job for me either.

Did you get a driver disk with the device?

If so try that.

Subject: [access-uk] Problem installing external hardware

Hi Folks,

A few weeks ago, I purchased a new combined scanner/printer. Unfortunately, although it came with an installation CD, I couldn't get it to work with my number 1 computer and have had to settle for using it entirely with my second machine.

Today, I have taken delivery of an external hard drive and am experiencing exactly the same problem. I have therefore come to the conclusion that the fault may lie with my USB 2 port. The device doesn't have a CD but when I plug it in I immediately get the message, "New hardware found." When I opt for automatic installation, the search begins and then continues without achieving any sort of result. I've had a look in Device Manager and as far as I can tell, all USB ports are apparently working properly. I haven't got a clue as to what else I can do, so if anyone has further suggestions, they will be much appreciated.

Robert.
