Mike, just a thought, did you know that there was a blind DIY type list? Think
it's called the blind handyman list. Might be on the directory at
www.whitestick.co.uk

The addy is though, blindhandyman-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Best wishes

Steve

  Hi,

Yes, I tried resetting it and cleaning the tape etc.

A Braille one is not accurate enough. I am building a raised decking
platform, about 22 by 33 feet, on which a log cabin style house shall be placed
upon.

For use with a compound chop saw, a Braille tape would not be all that
accurate.

  Thanks for suggestion though.

  Regards,

  Mike

    Mike,

Why don't you go for the Braille tape measures? They are far better and
same quality as a regular one and even look just like a regular tape measure
except that it has dots on it.

I whole heartedly agree with Andy about blind-specific items being too
ugly and of inferior quality as most of the mainstream stuff. On top of that,
we pay a higher price for all that. I too buy as much mainstream equipment as
possible, i'll just make sure that it is perfectly usable for me. However for
specific things like a tape measure for instance, I got the Braille one.

    Take care,

    Lyn & Twinny
