Hi Colin, It's the combined total which includes the path which has tipped it over the top. George. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Colin r. Howard Sent: 27 May 2010 15:56 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Please can somebody tell me if this is a bug in XP Home? Greetings, I attempted to move a file named: "Classic Serial The Complete Smiley - The Karla Trilogy Book 3 - Smiley's People 3 - Smiley moves the operation to Berne. But can he be sure he's the hunter, not the hunted.wav" from c:\attachments to k:\Radio Drama and readings\Classic Serials yet to be processed and received a message advising the file could not be moved either because the file name was invalid or the file name was too long. surely, if there is a file name length limit, why would XP Home allow me to create a file with such a name? The file name is not invalid else I would never have been allowed to create it so what is the maximum length allowed for a file to be moved/copied? and can anybody suggest what is wrong with the filename to have it reported invalid? Thanks. From Colin Howard who lives near Southampton in Southern England. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
