Hi all,

WMP 11, XP Home, Jaws 8

I am attempting to play a DVD for the first time on my fairly newly built
PC.

On putting in the DVD, I am given three options:

Play using Windows Media Player,
View folders, or something like this,
Take no action.

I enter on Windows Media Player, and a message pops up:

"Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to change your
Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel and then
try lowering your screen resolution and colour quality settings".

Both were at maximum, so I lowered them.

I got the same message.

My wife has a laptop, and using Windows Media Player, with her screen
settings the same as mine, she is able to play DVd's.

Two questions please:

1, Any ideas what I can do to cure this problem?

2, Is there a, if possible, free software DVD player that I can try, and
that would work?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Keith
