Hi John.
Please count me in, I've a few old clothing items which wouldn't be a problem
if they were accidentally damaged or marked. Please email me off list, I'll
supply my address details.
All the best, Ibrahim.

Subject: [access-uk] Penfriend laundry
Hello Everybody,
For members who don't know, my "day job" is as head of products and
publications at RNIB and I hope list members won't think it a cheek when i say
that I'm seeking a small number of people to try out our first go at making
labels for the Penfriend that can be stuck to clothing and survive washing. I
have a very limited number of labels and would like to send them to anybody who
would like to give them a test run. I've been trialing them on my own things
and they don't seem to be doing any harm to anything. However, this would be a
try at your own risk bit of evaluation.
If you would like to take part in the trial just let me know and we'll send
out some labels. We've got enough to give a few to about 6 people. We'd just
like you to stick them to various items of clothing and put them through a few
machine and/or hand washes and let us know if they fall off, stop working or
cause any problems. The labels are just like the standard penfriend labels with
different adhesive. We have some further ideas for other ways of solving the
laundry issue and would really welcome the direct involvement of customers in
getting the right solution.
I am very conscious that although we do regularly involve "real" blind people
in testing our products this is most often done via groups in local societies
and in our resource centres and rarely through groups like this where people
can read what other people are saying before we actually put a new item up for
sale.
If people generally feel that this is not an appropriate use of this list,
just say so and perhaps suggest a better way for us to actively communicate
with and involve customers. Email is good because it is much faster and more
flexible for getting a discussion going although we will never stop using other
routes as many people still don't have direct personal access to email.
Thank you to you all.
If you prefer you can respond to me at john.godber@xxxxxxxxxxx but don't
worry, if you write to me at my own email address i'll make sure the bloke at
RNIB gets the message.
John
