System Access when loaded from www.satogo.com can work as a normal screen reader, you just need to visit the site and follow the instructions to innitially load it. You can close the browser window once it has loaded if you want. Before I purchased System Access Mobile I could hybenate my computer and turn it on the next day with System Access still loaded.

Yes, pretty unstable. The best free screen reader if you have Internet in my view, is System Access To Go, http://www.satogo.com. Just unload any screen reader, go to the run window by pressing Windows-R and then type 
www.satogo.com, and listen to your computer start talking.

Don't forget you get what you pay for. NVDA has a lot of delayed
buffering
issues and I would prefer to pay for a screen reader instead. Yes if my hands were financially tied and non of the commercial screen readers were affordable to me then NVDA would be ok and can do a job as far as e-mails 
and file management is concerned. It's too sluggish on the net.

No, system access also offers a payment plan option, but whether its available in the UK is a different matter. People in the UK are able 
to
use the system access as a service option, where you pay a monthly fee 
for system access mobile and the mobile network with no contract,
commitment or upfront cost which in my view is a really good way to
flog
a screen reader, profitable for Serotek as the customer will want to stay subscribed for their screen access product, and beneficial to the customer because they don't have to fork out hundreds of pounds for the 
access technology they need.
