BTW George, I asked my accountant as I was concerned about this, and she said you only need to be registered if you charge interest on your payment plans. She said if they are a straightforward break up of the original cost into more than one payment, then any business can do this. Only when you charge interest or make a final payment demand in excess of the final payment amount do you need to be registered.

Hi Barbara. Regarding your earlier post are you offering payment plans for items which have a value above £100?-------------------------------------------------- From: "Barbara Wilson" <barkingbabs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 17, 2009 11:31 AM To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [access-uk] Re: Payment plans for access technology?Hi SteveI agree with all this. I've only ever had to chase one customer and if I ever got ripped off then that would be the time at which I would reconsider offering the plan.Find me on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/barkingbabs Barbara Wilson M: 07917710779 T: 02887784046 E: barkingbabs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx IM: creativeeyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Skype: creativeeyes----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 17, 2009 11:29 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Payment plans for access technology?Hi Martin,There's a bit more to it than that. A credit card is not secure from thevendor's point of view. As a customer, you can block anyone from takingmoney from a credit card. So I would say there is no foolproof way to havefinance plans, without the risk of chasing for payment, especially with expensive equipment. For example, if I sold you a KNFB Reader, you activated it, and paid your first month's payment, and no more, we have no deactivation process. With Window-Eyes on the other hand, we can activate it for each 30 days, so ifyou don't pay the following month, it will simply expire. So there does need to be some protection in place for the vendor as well, ifthe customer defaults. Yes, we can chase, and take the customer to thesmall claims court, or whatever, but it is all costly and time consuming.Don't get me wrong, not all customers are going to default by any means, but I am just pointing out that it is not just the big bad business out there, taking money off you and not having a payment plan. It is more complex thanit looks to set it up. With respect steve, I did not want this to become an attack and defence discussion of we do this, they do that. I was putting the idea out for discussion to those who directly vend, those who resell, and those whopurchase the software or hardware to see what the support was for payment plans, why they were, or were not implemented at this time, etc, etc. For instance, surely, a company, regardless of the products they sell, if they wish, can make payment plans for expencive software/hhardware if they wish, with the appropriate safeguards of course, such as taking a credit cardnumber/direct debit mandate etc, in case of default on behalf of purchaser.Thoughts? -----Original Message-----From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf OfSteve Nutt Sent: 17 August 2009 11:01 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Payment plans for access technology? Hi all. In this time of resession, or at any time really, what with the costs of access tec being prohibiitivly expencive for most, why are not more companies iether resellers or at source venders making available paymentplans? I know serotek do various plans for their system access products, and window eyes do their payment plans too, which I believe are supported byresellers in both cases, but do any others do payment plans? Sight andsound for knfb reader mobile or hjaws for instance? Computer room servicesfor knfb reader mobile or braille displays?
