hi carol, you don't have to have a paypal account to send payments out but you do need one for receiving payments.
a basic account should do most users, but for people who do a lot of transaction and to accept credit cards you need a premier account.
I had no problems in signing up, they will deposited two amounts in your bank account and these will show up on your next statement.
you then have to put the amounts in the boxes provided, and there is a screen that shows up, with a number or letters not quite sure as I done it a while back.
there is an option to tick and they will phone you in about 2 minutes, and they ask you to punch the code in to your phone, I think it was a 5 digit code, and hal had no problems in accessing it.
hth.

Subject: [access-uk] PAYPAL

This didn't seem to make it before and I certainly saw no responses, for forgive me for posting again.

Hi all,

After a rather difficult problem with PayPal a while back, I unsubscribed
but have decided I must go that route for my own advantage. Now I have some
questions. (I have looked at PayPal but I'm afraid I can't take in all the
blurb so hope you'll bear with me.)

1) What use can you make of PayPal if you don't sign up for an account?
(In reading it looked as though you could still use the service but I didn't
find more than that and may be wrong.

") Am I right in thinking that you need a business account if you are
going to receive payments via PayPal? (In other words, can a personal
account only be useful in paying out?)

3) Finally, is there still a problem in signing up where there's speech
or a graphical representation which has to be entered?

Any help will be most welcome. Thanks.
