Hi Carol

I know this is not quite what you are asking, but I thought you might be
interested anyway.

I use a USB to serial converter to connect my Series 3 Alva Braille Terminal.
It is a PL-2303 USB to Serial Converter.

It came from a firm I had never heard of before who advertised on Ebay. My
colleague at work procured it for me.

It came with a disk to install a driver.

It has a USB plug at one end and a serial port at the other, so it is necessary
to run a cable from the Alva to this port.

When I was looking around, I was advised to use the serial, rather than the
parallel, port as it was compatible with Windows XP.
