I would say that, if you can live with the Nokia and other symbian phone
keypads you should certainly not consider the
Owasys mobile phone. It's features are limited and the product is extremely
expensive, considering you can get subsidised deals as part of a contract
from all the major phone providers.

The two most serious flaws with the phone in my view are that you cannot
send a text message of more than 160 characters long and there is no way,
that I know of, that you can back up information like contacts in the phone
book. There is also a problem where the sound is muted until you take the
voluve up to maximum. I think this muting happens when trying to receive a
call somethimes.

If I am wrong or out of date here I am sure someone will correct me. I have
used this phone and heard it working. The voice is quite clear, the phone
is reasonably small and the keys are easy to feel and well spaced. If it
cost £50 or something maybe it would be worth while but, with the lack of
features I think it is hard to justify at around the £250 mark.

Hi Listers,
Does anyone have one of these phones from the RNIB? If so, I'd be
interested to have your thoughts and impressions and whether it's worth the
price. You can contact me off list if you'd prefer at

Cheers,
Sandra.
