I know some of the android phones have the screen reader on the phone
maybe they all have it now.
I might look at this option later if someone has any experience please
share as I might go down this road.
I think the android screen reader is called talk back but can't be sure
about this.
Some net books are starting to leave the factory with android on them as
well if there is a screen reader built in to the OS it might be another
free way of getting access for the home user.

John,
Was your Nokia out of warranty ? Nokia can repair the phones. Did you take
it to a Carphone Wharehouse? Even if they need to replace the handset you
can get a letter from nokai and then provide a copy to yoru Talks retailer
who should be able to get a new talks code generated for you.
Net Result could be, no cost to you.

Barry

Subject: [access-uk] Owasys
Hi
I've just learnt that the Owasys phone is no longer in production.
Can the list recommend a similar phone, that is,
one with built-in speech and so forth?
I got my old Nokia phone with the Talk screen
reader as part of my Vodafone contract. The phone
died on me some weeks ago and the next
opportunity to upgrade my handset is sometime in the latter part of
2011.
So, I'm trying my best to avoid paying an
absolute fortune for a handset on top of the £150
(approx) for the Talk screen reader.
Any money-saving tips would be most gratefully received.
Many thanks
John
