yeah, just got it, me being dim, I'd only heard Jaws say "import from
another program" and hadn't listened on.. have just done it, got my emails
back, phew....now to work on the documents!!

Lesson for us all, make sure you backup your Outlook files and have a copy
somewhere you can get at it if your machine goes down!!

Hi Phil,
That's the one you want - it says "import from another programme or file".
If you select that option, it gives you a list of file types, you select
"personal folder/file .pst", then select where you want to import from.

I will look again but having looked at the export/import options before I
could see how I couldn't see how I could import the file as it says "import
from another program". I will go take another look and see what happens.

Hi Phil,
When using the import wizard in Outlook to import the .pst file, you need to
specify the file path, so you don't need to put the file in a specific place
in order for the transfer to be successful - you just need to know where it
is! It may automatically suggest a default location, but there is a browse
button which enables you to specify the path.
You can also import straight from the USB device unless you specifically
want a copy of the .pst file on the hard drive as well.
Re identities - I'm not sure. If importing directly in to your profile I
don't see how this would effect your wife, though I have not done this
before so won't speculate!

Following on from my emails of a week or so ago about the death of my
Toshiba laptop I have taken it to a friendly local pc repair shop who reckon
the graphics chip has gone and so the best they could do was harvest the
hard drive for me and put it in a USB cradle so at least I've got access to
my data.
One of the things I want to do is grab my emails, addresses etc from outlook
on the Tosh and import them into Outlook on the desktop I'm using for now.
I have found the outlook.pst file from the Tosh HD but what I'm not sure of
is where I put it on the desktop local drive to import it into outlook.
I also have 2 identities in Outlook on the desktop, mine and my wife's, I
am wondering if copying over the Toshiba .pst file will in any way interfere
with my wife's profile?
Does that make sense, I hope so, and I hope someone can help, I have been
trawling the Outlook help system but to no avail.
